Colombian defenders Andres Gonzalez and Jairo Suarez are the first two names entered for the Hero Indian Super League’s central international players’ draft pool scheduled here on August 21.
Four clubs from the total eight franchises have exercised their opportunity to sign maximum two international players on their own. Delhi Dynamos FC (Mads Junker and Morten Skoubo), FC Pune City (Emanuele Belardi and Bruno Cirillo), NorthEast United FC (Isaac Chansa and Cornell Glen) and Atletico de Kolkata (Borja Fernandez) have made their signings.
All the franchises have either already signed or shortlisted their marquee player (also a foreigner), besides signing 14 domestic players.
González and Suarez, along with 47 other international footballers, will make up the required quota of 49 players in the draft. Bulk of these players will be from South America and Europe and the organisers have already reached agreements with some coming out of Colombia and Brazil.
Central defender González, 30, has 11 appearances for the Colombian national squad and played in 2004 Copa America tournament. He represents Junior de Barranquilla club and has played 270 matches including for teams like Chile’s Colo-Colo and home club Independiente Santa Fe.
“I look forward to sharing space with the legends of the game and share my experience with the youngsters in India,” González said in a release.
